lb. ground beef
2 lbs. ground pork
1 large onion, chopped
3 large cloves of garlic, chopped
2 and 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon
1 tsp. of allspice
1/2 tsp. of paprika
1 qt. of water
2 and 1/2 tsp. of salt
Mix thoroughly and simmer about 5 hours over
low heat in uncovered pan. stir frequently.
Cool and use on a sandwich spread or on crackers.

Another
Groton Recipe
1/2 lb. of
leaf lard
3
lbs. ground pork butt ( not lean)
2 medium onions, chopped
2 tsp. of salt
1/4 tsp. of pepper
Place the two following ingredients in a cloth
bag:
1 tbsp. of whole cloves
1 and 1/2 tsp. of allspice
Fill with water to cover the meat.
Combine above ingredients in a large pan and
bring to a boil. Then continue to cook at simmer or
light boil until the water is almost gone. Stir often.
Remove from the heat and allow to cool for
about 1/2 hour. Remove spice bag. Beat with a hand mixer
for about 5 minutes.
Add plain bread crumbs to bring the mixture to the right consistency (
until most of the liquid is absorbed).
Serve as a spread on bread or crackers.
